101 in 1001

The Mission: Complete 101 preset tasks in a period of 1001 days.

The Criteria: Tasks must be specific (ie. no ambiguity in the wording) with a result that is either measurable or clearly defined. Tasks must also be realistic and stretching (ie. represent some amount of work on my part).

Inspiration: The 101/1001 challenge was created by triplux and I found it via .
I’m starting my second round on Monday (January 2, 2012) and I have until September 29, 2014 to complete all 101 tasks. I will, of course, be giving regular updates on my progress 😉

My 101 Tasks

Random Acts of Kindness / Charity
1. Compliment a complete stranger, genuinely, once a month for a year
2. Pay for the person’s coffee standing in line behind me
3. At the drive-thru, pay for the meal of the person in the car behind me
4. Walk around the block and pick up any trash I see (4 times)
5. Tip a waitperson 50%
6. Check with local military base regarding inviting a soldier/sailor to Xmas/Thanksgiving, and do so
7. Write or call in a “Good Job” comment to a business that deserves it
8. Volunteer with the Peninsula Friends of Animals
9. Donate 5 books to the local library
10. Register as a bone marrow donor

Continuing Education
11. Buy a Sunday newspaper and read at least one section cover to cover for 1 month
12. Buy a Sunday newspaper and try to complete crossword puzzle for 1 month
13. Read 5 pre-1900 bestsellers
14. Read 5 books; one each about 5 different religions
15. Participate in a class in financial planning
16. Learn to read/write/speak a 2nd language
17. Participate in one class at a community college in a subject you know little or nothing about
18. Create a Book “Bucket List”, at least 100 books
19. Sign up for, and complete ISSA Personal Trainer course
20. Learn a new word every day for a month
21. Ask 20 friends to suggest one book, and read them all

Friends & Family
22. Accept all social invitations for one month (dates, lunch, happy hour) whether it’s something I want to do or not.
23. Host a successful party
24. Take my parents out to a nice restaurant… and do NOT let them pay
25. Send a card or postcard to a friend or family member every month for a year
26. Take new “wedding” photos with original dress
27. Pick 5 people who have changed my life and write each of them a letter

Health & Vanity
28. Meditate for 1/2 an hour every day for 2 weeks
29. Go to bed no later than 10:00pm every day for two weeks.
30. Eat vegetables with dinner every day for 1 month
31. Participate in at least one yoga class weekly for 3 months
32. Take vitamins everyday for 3 months
33. Join a Crossfit group & attend at least 2 weekly classes for 3 months
34. Participate in a Zombie/ToughMudder/WarriorRun/etc.
35. Attend a martial arts class for 3 months
36. Get a professional full body massage
37. Assemble a first aid kit to keep in the car
38. Do 50 pushups in one set
39. Follow NROWFIZS (without fail) for 6 months
40. Squat my own weight
41. Find 10 new vegetarian recipes I can cook for regular meals

Financial Stuff
43. Update will
44. Save $20 a week for 6 months
45. Save $40 a week for 6 months
46. Put away $5 for each completed task
47. Open a 10 year CD with above savings
48. Buy a house (if financial situation improves and a lender will lend)
49. Use the first six numbers I hear from people I don’t know and play them as Lotto numbers (4 times in 1 year)
50. Switch from bank to a credit union

Other Personal Improvement
51. Fast for 24 hours (full)
52. Celebrate each esbat for 1 full year
53. Celebrate each sabbat for 1 full year
54. Organize BoS
55. Answer the “50 Questions That Will Free Your Mind”
56. Don’t swear for 1 week
57. Write a personal mission statement
58. Write a letter to myself to open when I turn 50

Hobbies & Creativity
59. Revamp websites
60. Reorganize my digital photos
61. Reorganize my prints and negatives
62. Take 10 photographs per week for a month
63. Write “Morning Pages” every day for 12 weeks
64. Learn how to knit and/or crochet. Make a 5 x 8 throw.
65. Plant and maintain a garden
66. Make a Year in Pictures album
67. Take a picture for each letter of the alphabet
68. Take a photo of the same place every month for year and then turn it into a calendar for the next year
69. Make pasta from scratch
70. Get to 101 recipes in Healthy Doesn’t Mean Boring
71. Turn HDMB into a print cookbook
72. Color a coloring book
73. Create a compost pile
74. Finally finish the wedding scrapbook
75. “Make a Scrapbook for Daina (5 years – 07/24/09 to 07/24/14)”
76. Take a photo to commemorate the completion of each of these goals
